Proposed Bill in MD Would Require Ignition Interlock For DUI First Time Offenders

A bill which would require first time DUI offenders to install an ignition interlock device on their car has been proposed in Maryland and backed by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). In addition to ignition interlock, “The Drunk Driving Reduction Act of 2015” as it’s been dubbed, would also require first time DUI drivers to participate in a program for six months. The bill has received opposition from some who say that it’s much too harsh and doesn’t distinguish between certain levels of impairment.
