Sam Shepard, an Oscar nominated and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, was arrested for DUI in New Mexico Monday night. Shepard was spotted driving to drive away with the emergency brake on, at which point police were called to the scene. Once confronted Shepard admitted to having two tequila drinks, and officers noted bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol. The actor, who appeared in “Black Hawk Down,” “The Notebook,” and more recently the series “Bloodline,” was taken into custody and spent the night in jail. According to reports this is Shepard’s second DUI charge.
